Auto-Bounce Keeps Asking for Permissions? Follow These Steps

Modified on Mon, 1 Dec at 3:07 PM

If Auto-Bounce continues asking you to authorize Accessibility or Full Disk Access even after you’ve turned them on, macOS may not have fully applied the settings yet. This can happen on newer versions of macOS, especially when the “Quit & Reopen” prompt does not properly restart the app.

The steps below will walk you through the correct sequence to ensure the permissions are applied successfully.

Step 1 — Quit Auto-Bounce Completely

If any Auto-Bounce window is open:

  1. Click Auto-Bounce in the top-left menu bar.

  2. Choose Quit Auto-Bounce.

If you see a “Retry” window on screen, click once anywhere outside of it and then quit from the menu bar. (You cannot quit directly while the Retry dialog is in focus.)

Step 2 — Open System Settings (Do Not Open Auto-Bounce Yet)

Go to  Apple Menu → System Settings.

You should not open Auto-Bounce again until after the restart in Step 5.

Step 3 — Turn ON Accessibility for Auto-Bounce

In System Settings:

  1. Go to Privacy & Security → Accessibility.

  2. Find Auto-Bounce in the list.

  3. Turn the switch ON.

Step 4 — Turn ON Full Disk Access for Auto-Bounce

Still in Privacy & Security:

  1. Go to Full Disk Access.

  2. Find Auto-Bounce.

  3. Turn the switch ON.

At this point, Auto-Bounce should be ON in both locations: Accessibility and Full Disk Access.

Step 5 — Restart Your Mac

Go to  Apple Menu → Restart…

This ensures macOS fully applies the permission changes before Auto-Bounce is opened again.

Step 6 — Open Auto-Bounce Normally

After the restart, launch Auto-Bounce from your Applications folder or Dock.

At this point, Auto-Bounce should recognize the permissions and continue without looping back to the authorization screen.

If Auto-Bounce Still Prompts for Permissions

If the loop continues, macOS may be holding onto a corrupted or incomplete permission entry. In this case, the most reliable fix is to remove the permissions completely, restart, and add them back manually.

Follow these steps:

1. Quit Auto-Bounce

Use Auto-Bounce → Quit from the menu bar.

2. Remove Auto-Bounce from Accessibility

System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility

Select Auto-Bounce → click the minus (–) button.

3. Remove Auto-Bounce from Full Disk Access

System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access

Select Auto-Bounce → click the minus (–) button.

4. Restart your Mac

 → Restart…

5. Re-add Auto-Bounce manually (most reliable)

After restart:

  • Go to Accessibility

  • Drag Auto-Bounce.app from Applications into the list → turn ON

  • Go to Full Disk Access

  • Drag Auto-Bounce in → turn ON

Then open Auto-Bounce normally.

If the Issue Continues After Re-Adding Permissions

Please prepare a short screen recording showing:

  • System Settings open

  • Accessibility → Auto-Bounce = ON

  • Full Disk Access → Auto-Bounce = ON

  • System Settings being closed

  • Auto-Bounce being opened

  • What happens after the app starts

You can then file a support ticket here and attach the video, along with your macOS, Logic Pro, and Auto-Bounce versions:
