Auto-Bounce Crashing? Here’s How to Troubleshoot It

Crashes are rare, but when they do occur, they’re almost always the result of how Logic Pro is set up right before Auto-Bounce runs. Auto-Bounce depends entirely on Logic being stable, visible, and responsive — it doesn’t alter your session, routing, or plugins. If Logic fails to respond, Auto-Bounce may crash or hang.

This guide walks you through the fastest steps to check, and what to send us if you need help.

✅ Step 2: The Most Important Check — Key Commands

By far, the most common cause of crashes is key commands. Even if your Auto-Bounce and Logic key commands appear to match, hidden conflicts can still cause problems.

The only way — and we mean the only way — to be sure is to test them manually inside Logic:

• Open Logic.

• Trigger each of the 8 Auto-Bounce key commands, one at a time.

• Confirm that each one works exactly as expected.

Until this step is completed, stability cannot be guaranteed. This should be the first thing you check if you experience crashes.

✅ Step 3: Quick Checks Before Running Auto-Bounce

• Screen flash during scan?

  ➜ Logic received a key command it didn’t recognize. Re-apply the Auto-Bounce key command set and re-test all 8 commands manually.

• All projects or just one?

  ➜ If only one project crashes, try “Save As” and make a clean copy (delete unused tracks, remove heavy plugins).

• Always or sometimes?

  ➜ If intermittent, background apps (like Keyboard Maestro) or hidden display items in Logic can interfere.

• Any other apps using key commands?

  ➜ Quit them temporarily and test again.

• Bouncing to an external drive?

  ➜ Make sure the drive doesn’t go to sleep. Long delays to “spin up” can cause Auto-Bounce to crash.

✅ Step 4: What to Send Support

If Auto-Bounce still crashes, please send us:

• Full crash log (.crash) from Console (not .ips).

• Screen recording (60–90s) showing the crash.

  • Our new favorite capture utility is CleanShotX because it can overlay key commands directly in the video.

  • QuickTime or any other screen recorder works fine too.

• Your Logic project (trimmed is fine), so we can reproduce.

• System info: macOS, Logic, and Auto-Bounce version.

• Key command check: confirm you tested all 8 AB key commands manually.

You can upload these files through the Support Portal or provide a shared folder link (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.).
